A Tale of two Golds

The Gold on the left came from French Gulch, It's fresh from it's load and washed down stream a short distance.  The gold on the Right came from the Ono California area ancient sea bed, We found marine fossils while digging it. Who Knows how many mountains it tumbled down on its way to the bottom of the sea or how long it took it took it to get there. The Load gold is very rough and crystline in appearance and the sea bottom gold flat and hammered smooth. The tunnel is the old Milk Maid mine in French Gulch while the Bank cut is the geology of the Ono area10493334088?profile=original10493335659?profile=originaloth10493336264?profile=original

The Gold Miner Spiral pan

I recently purchased the Gold Miner Spiral Panner, I researched it and the Desert Fox and opted for the Gold Miner's features. I must say my first impression was...WOW, it's small. So small in fact, you can purchase optional shoulder straps to backpack it into remote areas and carry the battery and 3 gallons of water.

Setup was quick and easy, I had it setup and ready to connect to power in less than 5 minutes. I purchased a booster charge pack from Walmart for $49 and had charged it overnight. I poured the water into the container, made sure the catch bucket was in place, (looks like an ice bin), put the catch up on the back, hit the power adjusted the water so there was no splash, and put a scoop of dirt in, a few adjustments and I had it running pretty good.

Now, after I'd ran about half of my dirt, I'd not seen any gold going up through the hole, so I stopped it, poured the muddy water out of the catch cup and the smile came, there was gold, quite a bit of gold actually so I put it back and continue the run. With the 1.5 gram nugget I found during the classifying I ended up with 3.54 grams.

I'm waiting on the delivery of Camel's Classifier set and look forward to going through all the dirt I've saved from previous bags I've bought and I have 2 five gallon buckets of stuff I've sucked up out of the Llano river, one bucket I'm really anxious to check, I found a huge cup where the river had ran before, the cup was filled about knee deep of warm water, to one side of the cup there was for lack of knowing what else to call it, an area cut back into the rock like a cave. I filled the entire 5 gallon bucket full of the stuff along the edge of this "cave".  And man did it smell, thought I was back in the Navy cleaning bilges...lol.

When I get everything up and going, I'll make sure to get pictures of both the Gold Miner and the results and post them all here.

. Too much water, going too fast will probably hold gold higher within the suspension. This scientific disciplines could be tough to go into detail, however fundamentally the top level water will not be impacted by your riffles just as much as the bottom level. As the lower level will be running behind a riffle, the top will be sweeping right above the eddy, even though the actual eddy by itself may slow the top part alittle, it is not as helpful by the actual riffle on its own. Gold Sluice Box Information

sluice box 263x247 Gold Sluice Box Build Plans | Three Stage Gold Sluice Box BuildOK here is the important information to think about with regards to constructing your very owngold sluice boxfor your gold dredge. Perhaps you would like to improve your outdated gold sluice box also called a crash box sluice. Your gold sluice box on the dredge is unquestionably a crucial part in the building, I have done up a different web page about it so that you could see all of the setup and just how I actually made my very own. In the end, if your gold sluice box isn’t going to capture your gold, just what is the reason for a gold dredge? Should you be serious about a manual fed stream gold sluice box, glimpse at the following item on the following listing.

Old Dredge Gold Sluice Box

I’ve got a Four inch gold dredge which has been useful for several years on a variety of destinations while in the California mother lode gold rush region. Not too long ago I replaced the older dredge water pump designed for one having increased volume – the master plan was to obtain better suction power. This worked well, however i recognized a substantial decrease at my fine gold retrieval. I understand the fact that older crash box design and style gold dredge sluices are terrible in retrieving fine gold, but if you up the waters velocity an excessive amount, well, it truly can make issues a whole lot worse. I actually recognized I had created an issue, nonetheless when gold dredging throughout 2009, I observed a little gold nugget had worked the way all the way down the gold sluice box towards the Sixth riffle – it absolutely was heading it’s way out of the end of the sluice box. I later on weighed the gold nugget and this entered in at Eight grains, therefore i thought if perhaps gold this size could possibly work their way through, the fines or flake retrieval really was terrible so i was required to do some thing. I simply couldn’t procrastinate any further, so i started to take into consideration my possibilities. Primarily due to the price, I made the decision in making my very own homemade gold sluice box. I was without any kind of layout plans or even particular instructions, however I’m a mining industrial engineer through qualifications, and also I own as well as have the needed steel manufacturing tools, therefore, the job didn’t seem to be past my reach. Furthermore, the actual 49ers fashioned and created their own personal gold sluice boxes, so just why wouldn’t I produce my very own? Also i calculated I would reduce my cost in doing the work [...] Reed More

First motor home trip to find gold!

My wife Sally and I took our first trip in our motor home to Arizona towing my 1942 jeep.  I spent the last year working on this 1942 Ford Jeep that my dad left me.  I spent $7,900.00 dollars overhauling the transmission and going through the brakes and bringing it back to its 1942 origin.  My father purchased this in the 1950's and it had three bullet holes in the back and quite a few dents.  My father patched it up and it has been used for the past 30 years for elk and deer hunting in Oregon.  I have had it stored in a warehouse for the last ten years and finally spent last year getting it fairly close to original.

My original thoughts were that I would use this to go gold mining! Well that didn't work out as my jeep says on the tag that it will go 65 miles per hour while the actual speed on the arizona freeway was about 40 and I knew if I pushed it passed that it would blow up the motor.  As you all probably know the speed in Arizona is 70 miles per hour and I thought I was about to die!!!!

Next winter I will take my little ford Ranger 4 wheel drive pickup.  I did run into a gentelman from England who went to Canada to retire and purchased a motor home and met me at Imperial Dam LTV.  He told me he was from a town in England that has a big parade every year and they bring out their old USA war machinery for the parade.  He said my jeep would bring $75,000 in england just the way I had it.

That was my big draw for the trip.  My wife and i tried our metal detectors for the first month and a half and dug up everything but gold.  We finaly had a fellow prospector at the Stanton LDMA camp tell us that we needed to dig down to bedrock and save the last four to six inches of sand to run through a sluice and blue bowl.  We tried this but didn't go down to bedrock so now at home running this through the blue bowl and not really finding anything!!

We will try this spring and summer around Oregon and hopefully we will start to find gold.

Take care

John
