From what I understand, you can still dredge along the low water bridge area, however, parking is an issue. Only parking on the state roadside is permitted. No camping in the woods either.

Alabama Gold Camp Trip, Part I

The day finally came! George came down to my house the night before, then Golddog showed up that morning with a load of dredges. We were able to get George's highbanker loaded, then it was down to Digger Joe's place to get him and his dredge. Made it to Joe's and he was ready to roll, so on down the road we went.

Now, several folks have mentioned wanting to see the area down there and what sort of gold we got. So, rather than babbling on about the trip - with a mile by mile rep

Some Mighty Slim Pickens Today

Went up in the Zunis again yesterday, and camped out. Took my panning gear with me. I found a really good spot last time, and thought this time, that I had found another, hah, no such luck. I found a few small flecks in my initial test pan, so I set up a small sluice, and worked a few buckets full. When I panned the concentrates, I found a few more, but not enough to write home about. I'll probably go back to that 1st spot again in a few weeks, as long as I can get in a few more good days before… Continue

#6 In the Members Section of The Leaderboard This Week, WHEE!!!!

Wow, I can't believe it, I actually ranked number 6 this week, I hope to make it to the #1 spot. I feel honored to make it as far as I have though, considering that I'm still in the learning phase. Of course, I'm always learning something new, new places to explore, new methods to try, and new people to meet. And with the forming of the local chapter coming up in October, I'm learning what it takes to take on a great responsibility.

I have written up the By-Laws, and come up with sever

Frist Cali Prospect

So, today I went out in search of some yeller stuff and came up empty handed. I was not trying to spend the entire day driving so I stayed close. I went to Stevens Creek. Looked very promising, but pan after pan, throughout the entire hike, no yeller!

What we did find was some great memories, and places to take the dog for a hike! Got some good pic's too. Stevens Creek is a great place for hiking, but not for gold prospecting. Oh yeah, if you ever go there go past the first

Ah, the benefits of adding a Tote to my panning Equipment

I recently purchased a 45 qt. tote with lid, to store my panning gear in during the off-season, in order to keep it dry. I never knew until a few days back that it would come in handy for another good purpose.

I was in one of those areas where water is scarce, if not non-existant. Anyways, I was digging along an exposed vein of quartz that I had found near a campground in the Zunis. I had brought along a couple of 5 gallon jugs of water, mainly for drinking,(I usually take that much al
