The day started like it has all week, showers over nite and int the morning. These were not like any other day, these showers were from hurricane Bill. We went down to check on the equipment and everything was fine, so went to the tractor show in Bainbridge, then we stop on the way back to check again on the equipment. Everything was still fine so we went to the store, and in that short of time the water came down from Washington courthouse, the creek behind the motor home was ragging and had risen. So i ran down to check again and to my surprise everything was gone. We lost the 4" dredge, the higbanker / combo, 3 pumps, all of our pans, all the tools, a gas can full of gas, and a bucket full of cons loaded with gold, yes it had been classified and tested. So we lost about $5k worth of equipment and cons. I hope everyones Saturday was better then mine.....

Finally was able to get out to an outing at the Loud Mine this week.
GREAT outing, nice folks, great weather.
I was pretty impressed with the amount of "teaching and learning" that went on.
Setting up equipment wrong and making people figure it out, lots of classes.
BUNCH of people new to prospecting which was nice to see.
I did a couple finish panning classes, did a local history talk one morning, and helped some at the highbankers.
I was impressed with the amount of organization and planning that went into it.
I have to applaud their effort to change the outings and make them more informative.
Kevin Hoagland, from Gold Trails TV helped run it and he did a few cleanup classes using our
new Multi Sluice. I figured I'd just record him talking for a change, not me.
He spent a BUNCH of time with them in NC last week and learned a lot.
Opening of the video is worth watching if nothing else.
Tried to catch some decent footage of the outing itself.
Today I got out and tested this idea I had last night. It was just a quick , throw together project. I brought it to the creek today and ran one/half 5 gal. bucket of material from the bottom of the creek. I guess I hit the right spot!
Okay...reaching out for some advice. I have a Keene 2" sluice/dredge combo conversion. I shelved the small two stroke motor & 1 1/2 pump. went out and bought a two pump from Harbor Freight. I need some hoses and am wondering the best way to go, i know the sizes and length but need to make a good solid purchase to last and have heard that Kaniflex is the way to go...thoughts ?
If you want to be a trillionaire, you can buy Zimbabwe 20trillion for a mere $14.95usd! Even the lowest of low "bums on the street" are millionaires. That's what happens when a government prints fiat money out of control. Word on the street is that there is a BIG push for "digital money" and not those bitcoins, but government controlled spending. If you make more than you can (or should) spend, the Gov will tax you big time for spending "cash". and if you have cash in retirement, it can be taxed and taken big time. Go ask Cypress. Diversify. Have cash and coin under the mattress, in the chicken coup, and have some bucks in the bank, and have some silver and if you can afford it (or find it) gold. I just bought 40 ounces of bullion, and will get 20 a month until whenever. News has it as in a "cashless" society, the gov will decide if you have "too much money" and what you can and can not spend in a months time, kinda like big brother putting you on an allowance.
What an awesome metal detecting event we just put together for 15 disabled veterans from around the country. I had the honor of helping a Blind veteran, and I was so in awe of his ability and determination to find objects that were planted.. and would you believe it! He found 2 gold nuggets out of the three that were planted. It was amazing to watch him take control of the detector, find a target, set his detector down and follow the shaft to the coil and dig! I'm 60 yrs. old and I could shed tears of joy for this young man. I SALUTE ALL VETERANS
Stay in touch and stay safe out their! Snakes R out Now!!!! -carry moth balls and throw em out everywhere your setting up!!! later.

I live in Las Cruces, NM, which is in the vicinity of several color producing areas within an hour or two's drive.
I also recently got engaged, and bought me and my girl a pair of sterling silver claddagh rings for our engagement.
I had the idea of working to prospect enough gold to try to plate our rings (probably electroplating), with a thick, gold coating.
I went prospecting up near Ruidoso when I was a kid, but it's been years since I've gone out. I still have my gold pans and a sluice box though, and I plan on building a dry washer very soon.
Anybody have any advice on good places I can go to get enough good color to make my fiancee an even happier woman?
Tired of doing the BORING and tedious work of a new product launch...
I decided to have some fun. If you love gold... at least watch the end.
Pretty stuff.

I wish to thank all members who gave out a warm welcome on my recent membership. I am excited to get to know more about how to use and surf this website. I am currently the president of the Uncompahgre Treasure Club and have many activities coming up in the next year, I recently gave a presentation on metal detecting and detectors to a group in Ridgeway, CO. and our club has several early 1900 home sites we going to detect in the next months. The club is going to conduct a hunt for the Montrose CO. Warrior Resource center which involves taking a group of wounded veterans from around the country on a treasure hunt, detecting trip. In 2013 we did a No Barriers Weekend for the veterans and I wrote an article which was published in the April 2014 issue of Western Eastern Treasure Magazine. Anyway I hope to have fun with your group in the future and get to learn from all of you..... Again thanks for the warm welcome...Don
Thank you for all the input to my posting. I was hoping to take up prospecting (possibly dredging) after I retire. Supposedly, mining is creating a significant number of issues that harm streams and rivers. By time I retire probably only a shovel and one pan will be allowed to work in steams/rives. I've done some research on the internet and have yet to found any actual science to back up the harmful environmental claims being spouted to justify the current paranoia. If anyone has a link to an actual scientific article/paper I would very much like to read it.
