  • im with you a pontoon whith a hole cut in the middle bould not only work great for a dredge but gives the stability to be out there on a little rougher day,,,,GOLD

  • Yeah my buddy and I have said this from the beginning of the show too.  Those things will hold some serious weight, come on a trailer, and hard to sink, speaking from experience.  And if they can get a excavator up there.  I guarantee I can get a Sun Tracker up there.  Cheers.

  • If you could rig it up to handle the big water, a pontoon boat would be great!  Of course, the cost of getting it up there would be astonomical!   Not easy to get anything up to Nome!

  • OH I agree without a doubt. My buddy and I were thinking the same thing. Heck the one guy has put 20k into his boat. I dont know where but wow

    • You know I just started watching this series, and when they we talking about how much they put into their little ragtag boats, I was thinking, dam that would've bought a really nice setup from Keene, and Keene states that most of their dredge setups will easily fit into a shipping container and if you lived up there year round like some of those guys do, then it would be a one time cost for something that shouldn't break down from the get go. Me personally, if I had the money, I'd purchase one of the Nessie's and store it in a shipping container during the winter months. On a different note, and maybe someone can answer this for me because I've never worked with a dredge, one of the shots they showed one of the guys sucking up the bottom and he moved a rock and I saw one of the biggest nuggets and it sucked up, but they never showed it, said anything about it, the setups they use if the gold nugget is bigger than the screen, does it just go back into the ocean?

  • I agree I think a pontoon boat could work out pretty good
