spiral panners/blue bowl

this is not really a product review. just a note that when running either type, besides classification 20/30/50/100/ think about plant/tree oils/surface tension/gold floating away. my water at home is spring water. i cannot use this water to process gold.chlorinated city water works better.plant/tree oils permeate spring/ground water.this winds up coating spiral panners/blue bowls resulting in lost gold.bleach is the answer, both to clean apperatti and treat water. treating black swith bleach solution seems to aid in fine gold recovery

  • yep strong bleach will actually dissolve micron gold. i also always bring cons home to clean, its a waste of time messin withem on site when u can use that time to be getting more gold. clean those cons on rain, snow days, and at night. oh look at black sand grains under microscope some time and you will see that there can actually be gold attached or inclusions of it some where i got pic of it i will see if i can find and post it. you can refine it or if u want boil it with salt water until the waters about gone then dump in bucket of cold water to fracture it then pan a little dab at a time and i guarantee you will find some more gold in it when you thought you had it all
  • Thanks for the information will have to try the " bleach" thing- haven't heard of that before.
    • remember that is for stirring and flushing (gently) black sand concentrates.gently flush out the bleach/oil tea you have made, you can stir a 1/3 bucket of conc. by hand, gloves of course. then run material as described above. no bleach in recirc.
  • i too, bring all my dirt home becouse by the time i get done for the day. i dont want to mess with it...lol i would rather go home, and do it the next day. in the confort of my porch. as for useing a blue bowl. there ok with me. i miser every last spec, mostly becouse i had to work hard for it. but in general thanks for the bleach tip. anything to help is welcome by me!
    • almost forgot the important part.always spoon the material into the wheel/bowl/mini-highbanker,in a slurry form only.(liquid form.) never feed dry material.wetter the better.yah fred, ya lose money not bringing it home and doing it right.good luck all.
  • Speaking of bleach/chlorine,......
Chlorine is used in one process of micron gold recovery.
    Cyanide is more widly used.
Large companies, like Newmont Gold, operate huge open pit mines from which they extract and process micron gold through cyanide solution leaching.
    • What is the bleach suppose to do.
I use a commercial wetting agent. Makes water water by breaking surface tension. Can be bought at most good garden centers. Also called spray adjuvent. Way cheaper then the gold drop and does not foam like jet dry or other soaps. However if you choose jet dry and soap there is also a product that is acalled a defoamer. I use it in all my recirc water. Can also be purchased at garden centers.
      • like to pre-treat my blacksands with a strong bleach solution.this dissolves the plant oils that are always present.and which causes gold flotation.used to use muriatic acid ore lye, until finding that good ol clorox works fine.and is cheaper.after a good rinse,i run with a small amount of jet dry.maybe 2 drops per gallon of water in the recirc system.if the oils are not removed, results will be dismal, even with the best wheel or bowl.btw, i much prefer the genie miner model over the desert fox, while it is bulkier, you can set up a mortar tub with a bucket standing inside.the genies dump chute over the bucket, which then overflows into the tub.the bilge pump laying in the mortar tub.pump strainer stays clean and that is important.
  • Thanks for the tip! i could tell it was from a Hall, lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
    • howdy mr hall et all,yep mind you, i dont really run the cons in a bleach solution, only i pre-treat the cons in a large tub, warm day even better.carefully rinsing the bulk of it away just before processing in a wheel/bowl. then, in a recirculating system,a few drops of jet dry(not too much)read somewhere to use a capfull of jetdry, thats way too much, the water should not be sudsy.floating gold really chaps my hide!as the fine gold collects in the pan or cup behind the center of the wheel, you can use a magnet to get the stray black sands, then use your snuffer bottle to get the gold out, this for running larger amounts.
