Here is my 4th of July weekend haul. I was in a creek outside of logansport Indiana in cass county. Working limestone bedrock. I used a gold n sand hand dredge and a bazooka sluice. Anyone that has question on the size of fine gold a bazooka can catch Those samllest fines are around 100 mesh :) Hope everyone had a great 4th!

Sure would like to tag along with you sometime to gold mine? We sometimes camp over at Tall Sycamore campgound east of Logansport, not much gold in the Wabash there, unless you punch down like 5 feet, and without air, is nearly impossible. I like to stay in shallow water myself, under 2 feet. Am trying to build me a floating 2 inch dredge, but its harder than it looks for homemade, otherwise I have 2 homemade highbankers to use. Are you mining in the Wabash river or Eel River or a secret spot?

I was working Pipe creek over the 4th. I have mostly found large flakes and fine gold out of the river itself. I have never looked in the eel. I have done pretty good where the Wabash and eel meet thou. Just never prospected the eel. If we both have a free day id be willing to get together I have a gold cube and my sluice as for equipment. Im also saving up for a dredge.
Looks good to me. Lot better then Wisconsin.
Hi nice looking pans!!!

Im not sure how Illinois laws are on there waterways but in Indiana any waterway that has been or is listed as navigable you can go into to prospect as long as you stay 50 ft away from riparian land. I check with the county office in my area for any land owners listed if there is one listed i will get there permission before hand in writing. In most cases the office has no owners of must banks on rivers but with creeks it usually owned but generally speaking if you promise to not to destroy things i find most land owners are very nice. As for gold i have found flour in ever stream but i tend to look in the areas with bedrock showing somewhere in the stream. I have found creeks the run through farmland are really not worth looking in because most times they are not very old streams but i do come across some that have good deposits towards the end of those creeks in sand bars. i would stick with bedrock you can see shale or limestone mostly in this area. Goodluck
try clinton county kilmore creek and sugar creek outside crawfordsville..good places..good pan
That's some nice chunky gold. Better than the stuff I find in Brown County.
Im pretty sure all the chunky stuff came from a nice sized pot hole i found. I aslo pulled a few copper nuggets out of the hole that are about the size of a half dollar. I havnt made it down to brown county yet this year hopefully i can find the time in the next few weeks!
