No dredging, lower taxes?

I haven't seen or heard of this issue being brought up. Since dredging on my claim is banned, thus reducing the amount of values to be produced, should the claim's appraisal for tax purposes be reduced? Take just a 2" dredge and put it up against a garden trowel, which one is going to have the greater volume of production? Gee, that's a tough one... I would think a reduction of the assessed value to be as much as 50% to 75%. That's fair, right? I am writing up an appeal to the county for a re-assemsment. Nothin to loose!

  • So how much of the production work on your claim was done in stream with a dredge? If dredging was the only profitable way to recover the valuable mineral, then you have a very good case that the claim could not be worked for a profit this season.

How was the value of the claim assessed for tax purposes:?
    • Don't know how, or on what they base the assessment. Reguardless, seems to me the value is seroiusly effected by S.B. 670.
