Hello to everyone, I have come to think that we can no longer just count on the chosen few to do most of the work in getting the word out about the good that prospecting can for people who enjoy it but also the good it can do for the environment. Some of us not all of us rely on television shows and the treasure shows to get the word out to the masses about the many good things that come from the different forms of treasure hunting. Now most here in the discussion forum are mainly gold prospectors, but there are those of us who do this and look for other treasures too. The problem we all face is the possibility of areas related to our enjoyment are slowly being denied to us a bit at a time because the majority or people (mostly environmentalists to which I can be listed as a member of some of those groups but not all) see us as a threat to the environment. We know this isn't true unless somebody here is using water cannons to mine for gold. The majority of people only see us as people who damage the waterways with our dredges and other equipment. Most these people don't any of the shows that would teach them that our methods actually help the waterways by getting more oxygen into the water and improving habitat for spawning. They see shows which talk about the water cannons which did a lot of damages and are being used is South America. We need more events for educating the people even setting up booths at events that don't have a thing to do with treasure hunting to give out literature and show people how we help the environment. Maybe even set up displays and have demonstrations. Well this is getting long and I think I got my point across.

  • This is so true! We ALL need to start paying attension to what is going on in our government offices. They are there everyday mulling over these pieces of paper that are slowly wittling away our rights in ALL aspects of our lives! If is continues it will NOT be long before we are meerly sheep in the hurd with little to no say at all in the way we conduct our lives!!! PLEASE READ OUR DECLARATION OF INDEPENDANCE!!! This is exactly the sort of thing our forfathers were trying to free us all from!!!!!!!

  • Good effort pastor and it pays off to inform people and let them know that each one of us needs ot get involved.

We here in the San Joaquin Valley had whats called a scoping meeting with BLM last year, they were trying to tell us the area we were prospecting in was closed to mineral withdrawal , and IT WASN'T.

During the meeting the ranger herself was informed that what she was trying to do was illegal, basically she was ignorant of the facts. That got cleared up by the area manager (her boss) at that meeting.

Yes eventually more regulations are going to be put into effect that's inevitable and more and more regulations are going to be put on ALL LANDS that were once open to the public ( owned by the public too I might add ) .

As time goes by we're going to have access to less and less, politics play enormous role in all of this, politicians in the white house now are the type who want to take control of everything and want big government ruling everything , shutting out human kind from all that once was free and open space.

Good luck with your fight Scott we constantly hear about your battles up north , thank you Dave for bringing more information to the people, Greg don't be discouraged that will cause a person to give up and we need every body we can get at this point in history.

    Thanks guys for your involvment,

  • Thanks for your good points Robert, here in Ca. we yearly have to fight with the Karuk Indians who say that we dredgers are damaging the habitat for spawning salmon. People don't realize that dredgers loosen compacted gravels and remove toxins such as lead and mercury from the creeks and rivers. What the NRA is to gun rights, people need to join other orginizations such as PLP (Public lands for the people) Great for miners rights. Another good org. is The Blue Ribbon Coalition. They fight for keeping the Pubic roads open and access for everyone that wants to access our public lands. Just as curch members tithe for the good of the curch. The US citizens need to donate to these Orgs so they can laywer up against the enviromental greenie sierra club whackos whose lobbyists seem to be in the hip pocket of our elected gov't officals that we the people keep seeming to elect. We need to Educate, Donate and band together to protect our ways of life that we enjoy. God put the fruits of this earth to be used and conserved not PRESERVED.
