  • I'm not real sure of that particular model of Honda but the Hondas I have, have a great feature of shutting down when they are low on oil. Just make sure yours has oil to start and do as the fellers say: Never, ever run your pump dry. The water is what lubricates and keeps cool the impeller drive. Without it the bearings get damaged badly and your warranty just went south. Good advice Ken and andrew!
  • you  do not want to ever run a motor and pump dry it will ruin it you might try to use a tub to recirculate some water throug  it

    • yup, never run it dry.just use a tub/or trashcan.put the strainer and the discharge in there, good to go.is how i break in my new pumps, prior to 1st oil change.that 2.5 you have is a good one,if a bit noisy.little pumps work hard for their salt, use quality oil,and change the oil religously every 20 hrs usage.you can get by with every 50 hrs,but new oil is cheap insurance.i use opti4 synthetic for 4 stroke, very slippery stuff, smokeless.doubles the manufacturers waranty.
