Curvins Cowpasture Claim in Alabama

I want to go to an Alabama GPAA claim that actually has gold on it. I am thinking about going to Curvins Cowpasture claim in Heflin, Alabama for a weekend. I have been there in the past and found some good garnet gemstones and a few specs of gold. I would like to know if anyone has been there recently and found anything worthwhile. I will be using a 3-inch dredge and a high banker.

Can anyone recommend a good Alabama claim to go to other than the Talladega  National Forrest or the Alabama gold camp? Georgia is also ok. I want to find some gold and not just look in a worked out location.

  • well I've been too Corn house creek 5 times. gold can be found there. Found a little everytime! But nothing to write home about, LOL!

    • final tally today 14 pieces, about 100 mesh size. filled 4 buckets then classified. Ran about 1 bucket of concentrates through the sluice. LOTS of Black sand, mica and garnets to deal with!

  • The new Cornhouse claim is 9 miles from the Alabama Gold camp

No dredging till next year. Hasen't been touched for 30 years.
