  • billy i bend a lot of 3003 and 5052 alum to make everything you use to build equipment look at some of the equip i have built in my pic s on my page then if you have questions give me a holler am glad to help anyone

  • Sounds as if you are trying to bend 6061 T6 Aluminum.  6061  ia a alloy mix the T6 is the hardness , great for strength but it also is brittle when trying to bend sharp bends. Get some 5052 Aluminum and you shouldn't have the fracture problem.  Darth is on the right track though in suggesting annealing which is trying to soften it up. While I was in the Navy we would lite off a ox/acetylene torch with acetylene only  and cover the bend area with black soot (qa good dark black, then we would add ox to raise the torch temp and burn the carbon off which raised the temp of the metal to a annealed temp. Sometimes it worked other times it didn't but the 5052  should bend nicely for you.
