  • I have been using a Gold Miner spiral wheel all this summer, thanks to Tony who is on this site, and it works great! I'm sure the Desert Fox works in a similar fashion. The main thing is to classify your material down before you run it.

I've had great success getting the fines and all out. Of all the times I have checked my tailings, I've only found one small speck - and I'm new to using it, so always tweeking on it a bit, which might imply more operator error for that speck than the machine!

I used to have bucket upon bucket of concentrates from my dredge to go through with a pan during the winter (which I enjoyed, but dreaded all the same), but as of right now, I only have about 1/3 of a 5 gallon bucket to get to! Plus, I dredged more this summer than in the past! These wheels will cleanup some material!!

    Good luck!
    • I have an older desert fox still humming along I love it just have to rerun the material to make sure you get the bulk of the fines it's all about the setup and classification get the learning curve and you're in. I highly recommend them although some do not. I got mine on Ebay for about 2/3's the cost of new may want to check out that route.

  • I have had one of the gold miners wheel for about 2 years, great for running cons in the winter. all self contained, packs away small. very handy.
when I take it with me I run it off of a "jumper box" from sears. runs for 3 days on a charge.

    • Rick, What do you mean by a jumper box? I was thinking of using a Solar panel system for a constant even flow of power to the unit through the battery. Mark
  • Who before I forget if you can buy one at a gold show you will get it cheaper I did and I saved $60.00.
  • I have a desert fox and I like it a lot really my honey love it because she can use it in the house in the winter and she came up with that .
  • mark i have 2 of the desert foxes i like them have had very good results from useing them you just need to classifie your material to get the best results also angle and water control are a big factor in how well they work it just takes some time to learn how to set the water flow and the angle
