I should know better, as I probably know your answers. Im shopping for a 2" pump for the highbanker Im building. I can buy two 2" brand X for about < $200.00 ea. ; one to use one to stand by. OR I can spend the > $440.00 on one Honda at the local Northern tool store. Help me make the decision, please.

  • I have two of the blue beasts, and they perform as well as my Honda's....Northern also features the 'Powerhorse'...clones
  • I bought one of those 6.5 hp imitation honda motors for my 2" free standing pump. It works great . The only thing about it is I had to use a "Lovejoy" shaft to adapt the non threaded crankshaft to the free standing Keene pump. I haven't tried to mount the pump directly to the motor useing a keyway because I didn't want to screw up the threads on the impeller. If you don't know what the "Lovejoy" is, it is a simple universal joint type setup that lets you go from the unthreaded Crankshaft to the threaded impeller on the pump. As far as the motor goes it is identical to the honda , starts with one pull and works really well for only about $140.00. I have used it on a highbanker and even on a 3" dredge. Go for it
    • let me know how those t pumps work, specialy when moving the water uphill aways.maybe i should quit wasting my $ on tight tolerance pressure models(grin)good luck all.
      • look,with pumps,3 things.hp,volume,pressure.hp the engine size.volume, 2inch,three inch etc. pressure,is the casing/impeller clearance.trash pump=mucho clearance/not presure.pressure pump=minimal clearance/mucho pressure.hope this helps.ps i sometimes pump 200 gpm s as far as 1000 feet,w/say 80 vfeet a head.oil change 15 hrs country.as in outlaw country.grin
  • I bought a used Honda 2" trash pump on ebay for the highbanker I'm building. I got it for about $90 and it ran. I did have a buddy of mine go over it to make sure I wouldn't have any problems with it. I can't wait to use it!!
  • I can not find my info on my pump but it does do the job I figure if I get a couple seasons out of it I got my moneys worth ..it runs very well seems to be a strong motor and pump i think I paid 249 with free shipping
    • I'm on my 3rd yr with a 5.5hp 145gpm harbor freight clear water pump no problems yet likes 10w30castrol synblend oil and hums like a dream powers my 2 1/2 combo dredge fine super suction with no problems only thing is my warranty expired in Feb so we'll see how it goes . Got a deal was marked down to $159 with added warranty just over $200 /tax
      • it is all about clearance within the pump casing.trash pumps=big housing, small impeller.this allows debris to pass thru the pump.like on a construction site.pumps made for pressure applications have impellers that barely fit within the casing.a tiny pebble drawn up the intake will either jam it up,or be chewed up and passed.the consumer market honda pressure models have a cast iron impeller, these last a long time.honda made 2 models w-15x not a pressure pump, also no overhead valve.a good liteweight unit, but, the wh15x pressure model, overhead valves.the 15 series pumps are now 4hp engines.pretty good bang for the buck.i too like synthetic lubes for these.nothing works harder than a water pump.these high end pumps can be found on craigs list, sometimes very affordable.
    • I use a small honda wx15 pumpn my 2" dredge. But when I am using my highbanker at some sites I have to go my larger pump as the Honda does not have the lift to push the water up if I am more than 10-15 foot above the water source.
