back from canada

well i'm back from my granddads claim in canada...

set up camp on the claim early this may. after getting permits, and all the paper work for the crown(canadian gov.) we started to figure out what we had and had to do on the claim to start mining. The equipment we had was small scale compared to the gold rush tv show. when we weren't broke down or clearing a place to dig we ran about 25 yrds. an hour. i will say one thing the mining laws up there are a lot different than.here. you pay a % of the gold you find to the crown. haven't figured out what we lost or made yet . i think it will be a lose. to much out go to get set up this year. maybe next year will be better 100 oz. is the goal next year. But one thing is for sure we pushed our self  to the limit and learned a lot and had some fun along the way.

  • A lot of what you're talking about sounds very familiar (the breakdowns, trying to get down to the good dirt, etc.). I'd love to hear more as well.

    All the best,

  • Welcome back from BC. Glad you made it back safe and sound. I also would like to hear about the adventure and the problems you faced with the government. I'm glad your considering  making a return next year, it will give you a better chance to find more yella stuff, now that you've had a chance to look the claim over and get a sense of what you need to do to make the claim pay.
