I got my renewal paperwork in the mail for GPAA. The LDMA sounds like a good future option. BUT I see there are yearly maintenance dues. How much are the dues? Is the LDMA like a time share, where the dues also change as time goes on?

Allen, the monthly dues have not changed and as everything in life they may be subject to change in the future. Once a member you have the opportunity to visit any of the site's across the country. There is a daily camping fee associated with those visits. The amount varies depending on location and the services available at the site, but still remain very reasonable compared to other campsites. One of the best options for membership would be to find a current member wanting to transfer his membership. This is done through the LDMA and they require an additional transfer fee. Before entering in an agreement to purchase someone's membership, contact the LDMA office and verify the membership is active and eligible for transfer. The daily camping fee's have been gradually increasing over the past several years, the money is used to fund the expenses of running and maintaining the site.

Bob, I'm looking at an LDMA membership probably early next year, if not sooner. I just noticed, though, mention of "Monthly dues". I also took a look at the "Down Payment" options and would appreciate if you could clear it up for me. 1)Monthly dues....I gather that your mention of monthly dues is above and beyond membership costs. Is this for local club or in addition to? 2)Membership price match...I mentioned the prices to my wife(the final authority)and need some clarification here. If we opt to pay it in full, is $3300.00 the final price or do I get gear in the equivalent of $1450.00 after paying $4750.00? Thanks in advance.
Monthly dues are in addition to cost of membership. 10 bucks a month for as long as youre a member. They use the monthly dues for maintenance on all their camps. Once you are a member you get gpaa life membership included so you get access to all gpaa/ldma properties across the country not just 1 local club. There are private clubs all over that have their own private claims and are NOT affiliated with gpaa/ldma and require a totally different membership to join. This is just for gpaa/ldma properties. If you pay in full they discount 1450 so you pay a total of 3300. Not sure when monthly dues start so might be 3310 at start up. I see no mention of "gear". They were offering a free detector and such at sign up but think that promotion has passed.
