I recently built myself a sluice box just for something to do. I have taken it out 3 times. Each time i have taken it out , I came home with less than a quarter bucket of cons. But there has been about 2 quart jars of Black Sand in each. Is this typical? And what is the most efficient way to extract the gold. I'm bringing it home way faster than i can process it. Any ideas would be great. Thanks from Anthony

that kinda depends opn how much material your running through and how heavey it is concertated with black sand and gold different places will vary on thye amount of black sand cons i can recover a couple of 5 gal buckets of black sand and gold in 2.5 hours off my 5 inch dredge from 1 of my claims
Out here in calif, we can't dredge so its all by hand. I've had the keene boxes A51 and A 52 but your kind of limited to how much you can do with them. I could never seem to get any quantity of of Black sand. I would also talk to the other people using the same or similar boxes. I always got the same reply from everyone and that was "I don't get any Black sand". I recently built my own box and now I have a problem. I am getting about 2 quarts of Black sand every time I go out. I think that's almost unheard of here. and the jaws drop when people look in the box so I'm pretty confident that it's doing well. Now I need to figure out how a small time guy like me processes the Black sand in a timely and efficient manner. It's building up faster than I can process by hand. Blue Bowls (had one) work fine for certain size gold but not so good on fines. So what can a guy use that's not gonna cost a fortune
good quest try a small clean up sluice or pan it out should beable to pan a quart of black sand in a couple 3 hours
do you have a picture of your box you built?
Some how I got a couple on the main page. I had to scroll down to find them. I'm still tryin to figure it out so I can get them in the right spot for you.
This is the sluice I built just for something to build. Adjustable and removable flare, floor and auto-feeder. removable wheels. Quite light for the size ( all aluminum). Not finished yet. making legs for it and precision adjustments for angles and water flow. More up close pics if you want.
