Grey Clay dilemma

Been running into alot of Grey clay these past few weeks in NC and some good gold to be found in it But looking for better ways to classify this clay material better and faster (smarter), I already have used the gizzard method and using a 1/8 screen.Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advance..John

  • Is it wet or dry? If it's wet and in a river then the best thing to do is blast it with water if it has gold in it and then suck the gold up after you have washed all of the clay away. A fire hose works best and depending on if the area is populated or used by others during the day, you can come in to blast it in the evening and everything will be settled by morning.

For dry  a chain style impact mill will break it up really fast but masks and ventilation will be needed inside or out. This will also work for wet with added water but it really makes a mess so dig a large hole for the waste to flow into and then cover it over as it dries. if you don't dig a large hole, the clay will form and flow while thickening and bonding where it wants to.
