  • So why isn't it that they don't show prospectors clearing out the debris field from the stream?ou know the one I'm talking about, the one that causes water to back up which during high water and then cause the low lands to flood. Or perhaps how dredgers end up with mercury in the dredge that is normally found in the panning cleanup?  Why don't they show these things? I say it is contrary to the social manipulation these producers wish to show.  The one that casts a negative image on small prospectors and miners to the general public.

Why don't they show an episode with fish darting in and out of the dredging zone as the dredgers free up fish food.  Why? It doesn't support the theme of negativity generated by the other episodes so gov't agencies can move in to get rid of this awful menace and then sell off public lands to the highest bidder.

Anyone who supports these films from the mining/prospecting side is limiting their own ventures and helping to support positions contrary to small scale mining.

  • This is 2 funny, Reclamation has nothing to do with the TV side of this activity and the TV coverage. like it or not.

  • There is something else here I think.  Have you ever considered that those wishing to show this aspect of gold mining are actually running contrary to what small prospectors do and that by showing this aspect they are helping to build up a negative view of prospectors in the general public?  If you do then could it be possible that these attitudes are being fostered and possibly financed by Gov't agencies in order to facilitate this view?  Oh, don't forget that the monkeys behind this are currently selling lucrative deals in the background which include the selling off of public lands and Federal and State parks in order to generate funds to aid a dying economy that they helped foster.  Sure they will be some of the first to scream "conspiracy".  I will agree with the last syllable of this term;  it is, as it always has been, the piracy of American lands from the citizenry of the American continents.

  • I agree with you Lu. Allot of us would have never got started if those shows was not on. They do need to show planting trees and other things to promote those that do take care of our lands.

  • i have to agree dh and ted why i dont watch any of the drama soaps on prospecting or mining i m  not a big fan of any of them they just give us down to earth real miners a bad name

    • Most of those shows are for the birds.  I don't do any commercial mining.  I like to learn from videos related to small scale prospecting, because that's what I do.  To much drama on TV.  I don't watch it.

  • I agree: Out of all the shows, reclamation was only mentioned once, and their excuse for not showing any reclamation was "it was to boring". I believe that the reason is that it doesn't fit their agenda- which is to portray the miners as a bunch of destructive morons out to destroy the world. With the regulations that are in place, you have to reclaim any ground that you disturb to at least original or better.
