I'm new to gold prospecting and I am wondering if it is legal to use a gold/sand sucker (the pvc hand operated sucker) in wisconsin?
Planning to go to nugget lake next weekend and want to know if I can bring it with me or not.

so i could bring down 200 feet of 4 inch non perf pipe and use that as a dredge?
I think there is a law about how much dirt you can move before you need a mining operation permit Dean. But other than that im guessing you could. The laws in this state are so poorly written that if you can do it without the use of a motor it sounds like its legal. But if you have the patience to be given the run around for only God knows how long, you could call the DNR and ask someone. They might get back to you, they might not. Just dont call within three months of any holiday, because they will be busy with the upcoming or expired holiday ;)
You should be good to go with the gold sucker---as far as i know if it don,t have a motor you can use it
