where is a good place to prospect in the lower penninsula?

I am new to all of this and everything I have learned is from watching Gold Fever...I have been trying to find gold in ogemaw county for a couple of months and have only found one peice that I am not sure is even gold...

 

The peice I found weighs .72 gram(s) and I later found out that where I found it was a natural river andI can no longer prospect on it.

 

I cut the peice in half and it didn't shatter it just went strait through.I will attach a pic if my pc lets me (Hughs net)...maybe someone can take a look and let me know..

    Umm, if you have pieces that size, you don't want to be cutting them in half.   You don't say where you are.  Not all of us live next to you.  What state is your penninsula?
