Looking to buy a detector for nugget hunting and prospecting. If you had 1K to spend, what would you get.
I've been looking at the Gold Bug 2 and the White's GMT as some of my options. Keep in mind that I am a noob. I have wanted to get into this hobby since childhood but never lived in an area where it was a possibility until now (living in northern California near the Nevada state line). I've hear the GMT is easier for those newer as it has auto balancing.
Anyway, suggestions and opinions appreciated.

I broke my leg back in december so Iv'e had a lot of time to research detectors. Garrett AT gold looks like the best for the$. I bought one from MetalDectors.com. Got a Pro Pointer, a bunch of goodies and another free dector with it for $840. I only had a couple hours to try it out, but so far i'm impressed. I did a lot of reading and watched every video on YouTube.
If I were you, I would ask Jeff Williams. He is a member of Gold Prospectors Space. He uses them both and loves them both. He could probably give you some good info. Heavy Pans!
