We have 30 lease memberships available for the 2014 Lease Year. These 30 memberships will be distributed on a first come basis at 8:00 a.m. on March 2, 2014. The event will be held at the parking area alongside Rt 522 where it passes over Contrary Creek, about 5 miles north of Mineral, VA. Please park within the parking area so that you do not block vehicle access. Do not park on the shoulder of Rt 522.
Please read the Lease Membership Guide (below) and be sure to bring your signed Lease Membership Agreement, your signed Liability Waiver, and the $20 annual lease dues. Your membership card and a receipt for your payment will be provided on site.
** REMINDER ** The lease gives us permission to access the creek over private property. You do not need to be a member of the lease to enjoy the creek as it is owned by the state of Virginia. Just be sure to access the creek from the public parking/access area and keep all activities within the ordinary high water mark in the creek and off of private property.CCProspectors@gmail.com
Hello Derick this is William from down here in Bedford Virginia I have some info on gold in Virginia. Am more than happy to tell you everything I know, which may not be much..lol.. You say you are close to warrenton, so I will go from there. You are about to counties from where a lot of gold was found in the 1800s. Now if you look at a map where ,culper, Stafford, spotslvania, orange,Fauquier, all meet in those five corners gold has been found There, now from there the gold line goes from those five corners straight through Louisa, that should give you a good starting point. Now getting permission is a whole another story. If you get permission in these areas let me know and I can probably tell you where the closest mine or dredging took place a another place for you to look is a Creek called contrary, you can prospect in the Creek but the land on both sides is privately owned. There is a private club that has access to one of the properties I will have to go look in find their website. I don't know it off hand I hope this helps you some if I can help you in any other way please let me know
