  • Based on the other post by Robert Lindsey, I used Google Earth with the "Prospectors Power Pack" available from www.arizonagoldprospectors.com to locate the general area of a rather large area of old claims (not active, but always check locally for any changes in status) southwest of Duchesne.

    I read GPS co-oridinates of approximately;
    40deg 00' 34.36" N, 110 deg 47' 40.14 'W
    39 deg 54' 58.09" N, 110 deg 42' 43.85"W
    39 deg 53' 36.90" N, 110deg 34' 23.50" W

    These are 3 general areas are located in the mountains running from the NE to the SW. I have NEVER been in that area, but this information is available from the sources I mentioned.

    • yes it over by strawberry res. you will come up on a little gas station on the left side of the highway there will be a small sign that says currant creek dam if you go up above the dam you are getting into the high uintas a lot of small streams and beaver ponds watch for large cats and moose if out hiking up there if you like deer hunting this is also a good area to go it's out hwy. 40 between heber and fruitland if you hit fruitland you've gone to far it's a gas station,post office in 1 sit's on the right side of rd. and is a couple of miles past the turn off if you get up there by chance to look around let me know if you find anything if you don't mind i've always wondered about that place very nice place to take the family for camping fishing up to the dam is a good dirt rd. after that you will need 4x4
      • if i remember right i do beleive there was an old mine back in there some wheres and this is about 30 miles w. of duchesne on hwy.40 i have'nt been in that area forabout 10 years so things can change but there used to be a big turn ou just before you get to the gas station where you could get fresh water from the stream it was on the left also if yoou loook at a rand mcnally follow hwy.40 to fruitland and that will show you the area it is located in
  • never prospected there but did grow up there the geocomunicator shows placer deposits in that area in the dushcenes area i used to do a lot of camping and hunting in that area allways went to current creek resv. and red creek areas this is at the base of the high uintas very pretty country up there if you go up to currant creek dam it is about 30-40 miles off the highway up a dirt road have not been ther in twenty years though so could'nt tel you how it is now i'm in the prosess of looking for work as a lot of other people so my trips have been put on hold for a while because closest place for me to go is about twelve hrs.this really bites for i'm about to go stir crazy good luck to you up there and hope you do well llet me know how you do if you go up there allways been curious
