I've had this Keene RC1 rock crusher for ten years or so but did'ent get to use it
as much as I would have liked due to it's weight ( 80 # ) and it's bulk.
In June of this year I bought a nice 95 Jeep Wrangler and after a lot of thinking
and close looking I figured out a way to mount it with the RC1 so I could get more
use out of it.
I like to prospect with a Geochemical Meter and it requires that rock samples be
ground to _80 mesh. With the RC1 that is no problem, two passes and the job is done.
Now I can stop anywhere I want to check and in minutes I can have a sample ready
to test. So no more lost information of where and when the sample came from and
if I want to check more I can. And no more piles of rocks at home I don't remember
where or why I picked up.
I'am going to have the springs beefed up to be on the safe side. The RC1 is restrained
from any movement and when not in use it can be lifted off and the mount base unbolted
and put up till needed.rock%20crusher%202%20004.jpgrock%20crusher%20006.jpgrock%20crusher%202%20005.jpg
By slacking off the eye bolts first then taking up most of the slack and then tightning
the eye bolts back up it tightens the lockdown cable just as snug as I want.
On the road I plan on useing a safety chain ( not shown ) to a eye bolt between it and the grill
that will be secured to the front crossmember . This chain will be more for securty at motels
that anything else, also have to make a rain/road dirt cover for it. May be able to use a cover
for a Webber Bar-B-Que or smoker. Still have to check on this.
Having this mounted on the front will ( I hope ) help with traction when the Jeep is loaded
for a trip because it's ass end heavy ( kind of like some of my old girl frends ) and of more
use I may say!

Can we send you samples for you to test on the Geochemical Meter????
Hi Ted
If testing a sample on the meter was all there was to it I'd be more than glad
to do it how ever it's just not that simple. There is several steps involved before then
that must be done in order for the test to be of any value. First let me say that a test
ran on this meter is more for reconnaissance than anything else.
Not knowing what you want sampled leaves a large blank into how this test would
be of any help to you, but lets assume it's a rock you and you want to know whats in it.
Any and all minerals over time shed IONS into the areas that suround them. These IONS
are then scatered by erosion over an ever increasing size area. The Geochemical meter reads
the IONS in the samples so you can compare the samples and these are ploted on a map.
It will not tell you what mineral those IONS came from but can tell you from where they
came from if you keep track of where you collected your samples. This is a very small quick
and dirty explanation of how it works but hope it will be of help. After you have zero'ed in on
where these IONS came from you can then send them to a lab that can do an analysis of the
minerals in it. This can get very expensive as you may well guess.
An other option is to buy the needed chemicals and test them your self, but that is also very
costly now days and is getting VERY hard to find any company that is willing to sell you the one's
needed, thanks to the homemade drug and bomb makers we are plagued with now day's.
By now you must be wondering why I do any of this with so much involved? Simple, I look and
test only for Gold or Silver and forget all the rest. This is done for several reasons, first is the fact
that the only way anything else I might find would have to be in a large enough deposit that a large
mining company would be interested in it ( not likely !!!! ) second is the time and money involved
to track down any of the minerals of high value other than Gold or Silver due to the area's they
are found in.
I hope your still awake at this point and can more understand that it's not a do all to end all tool
but just one more tool you can use when prospecting. If I can be of anymore help (?) on this subject
please let me hear from you.
I see from your advar that your a dredger. A Geochemical meter can help locate placer deposits also,
both above and below the water.

Sweet Job mounting it but thats thinking in front of the box unless your backing up !!
NICE JOB !!
YEP! Thats me always ASS BACKWERDS
