This works pretty good for concentrating  the black sand works best when classified to get pebbles out as they disrupt the flow !   It gets wider at the bottom so the water slows down there and thats were the very fines drop out bigger flakes drop out higher up.

  • Wonderful idea. Going to make one too.
  • "Barbie Sluice" Kind of a catchy name lol. Better than "Down spout splash guard sluice" I guess.

    • Think I should paint it pink ?

      • You might be on to something there, Howard. If you paint them pink, all the women are going to want one ( re. gold pans), and we all know that what women want, we get them. I'm laughing here too.   Ted

  • Howard: I know what you are going through, I've been panning since the mid 60s. Figured I had my panning down pat, but I've run my tailings and found gold every time. The only way I've found to get 90% of the gold is to screen to 20,40,80,&100mesh, and pan each individually, which is a pain.

    • Ted! Oh my aching back!! That's a lot of panning! I'll go as far as Howards box but dang, my old back ain't gonna handle 100 mesh! I've run the 20, 40, 60, and even the 80 but OMG! I must be getting old!

      • Howard: That's why I said it is "a pain" lol.    Ted

        • But Ted I figure I made at least 25 cents an hour re running it _____I'm Laughing here !!!

      • Dan I only seperate the concentrates from my sluce run wich ts all ready 1/4 inch at the largest that i classify at 100 mesh but think 80 would work and run the larger material in one batch and the fine in an other.   I have used it as just a recurculating sluice but would recomend 1/4 inch or finer !  just save your tailings because there will be micro gold in it if you don't fine classify it first !!!

    • Just part of the Learning curve I guess so yes now I run it al the way down to a 100 mesh and then down the Barbie sluice  as Jane calls it  Thanks Dennis & Dan !!!
