thank you

I just wanted to thank all you great people in the us of a for the very warm welcome to your world.I am a 64 year old single man and am partly disabled after a trucking crash in 1999,because i live on a pension it is fairly hard money wise to get by.So i saved for 4 years enough money to set myself up in the gold detector game to make things a bit easier for myself.I have a gpx 4500 detector.

I live in a small coal and gold mining town called Clermont in central Queensland Australia although i was born in New Zealand i have been in Oz since 1985 and have become a citizen of this great country.

In Queensland we have things called general permission areas where for a fee $130 a year we are allowed to enter these areas to fossick for gold coins treasure etc.Although the gold here is mainly alluvial there are some very deep leads down to 60 feet in some areas, that's a bloody big hole mate! Although we have been assured that there is plenty of the yellow stuff still out there to be found i am sure you all know it is not easy to find even with the new detectors  available today. At the moment our little town is chock-a-block full of townies who come here in the winter to get rich, some do find gold but most go home at the end of winter disappointed their dreams squashed,so i am lucky because i can fossick all year long because i live here, and i intend to do just that.

Yesterday i found my first piece of gold found with my new 4500 though only sub gram and very tiny it has shown me how good these new machines are at snifting the stuff out, this piece i found at 6 inches something unheard of with the older machines.

Anyway you blokes i am starting to get boring so once again thanks for the warm welcome and i will catch you later.

    • Well, One day maybe we can come take a bit of the color from down under on a good trip. Would love to see the country again now that I have other avenues to go for besides just visiting old friends. Australia is also home of the "COBB Grill" that I speak about in my "Cooking while Prospecting" thread. have a great day mate looking for that mother lode.

PS by the way i love the south island in the home land of the Kiwi's. Lots of friends there too.
