So...what else do you do for fun

Obviously if you're on this site you have a love for that pretty yellow metal. Just thought it might be fun if we all shared other hobby/obsessions we are into when we're not thinking about moving dirt.

Myself....I'm into saltwater aquariums. I have been in that hobby for 4 or 5 years now.

  • Skiing, hiking, travel, diving, reading, a little yoga and other stuff at the gym...but much more time spent on gold prospecting than the other stuff!
  • Thanks Bob the handle is from antelope horn with brass deviders and fittings making the stripes in it.  The blade from a Nicklsen High carbon file and than annealed it holds quite an edge.

  • Basalt APC  Pretty Pun ny !

  • Great thread! My main passion is playing hockey. I eat, sleep, drink and live hockey. I try to play 4-5 pickup games a week plus my league game. A pickup game is where players from all divisions play at a set time together so the best of the best and newbies all play on the same team. Last night was our leagues draft night and when I got home my wife said she was beginning to wonder if she was still married LOL. I don’t watch hockey on TV as it seems boring after playing. I started ice skating Thanksgiving 2010 never having skated before. Played my first hockey game with a LOT of encouragement from friends in Jan 4 2011. Got my first goal in my 3rd game and haven’t looked back since. 2011-2012 season I was team captain and voted most improved player. Placed 2nd in goals in my division with I believe 23 goals for the season. This year I have been invited to move up a division so will actually play 2 divisions now. Oh yea all this is done with 2 artificial knees and a pacemaker. WHOOP WHOOP. It's heck getting old. Had total knee replacement on both knees in April 2010 and am enjoying life all over again. Other than hockey I am a HUGH hunter and fisherman. My wife and I also ride ATV's a lot averaging about 3500 miles a year on them. We really enjoy our tin tent in our old ages when out enjoying the GREAT outdoors that Montana offers us. Other than that I really don’t do much LOL

  • I like to buy and sell used cars. I like to take fishing trips. I like to camp and relax.

  • Great thread Bob! Vince Gifford, President of Tesoro, has a huge saltwater fish tank in his office, and is really into it. I build paper and wood r/c  model airplanes. Since I am great at building them - and even better at crashing them, I now donate my finished models to needy kids here in Westchester County, NY.

    • my son in law is into rc planes too and he is very good at crashing them to bits n pieces

  • Before I got to be old and blind, (how did it happen, it's only been something like 3 1/2 months since I graduated in 1961?) I did some woodcarving. Haven't done much since the bifocals came into my life.

    • jim there's no reason to let bifocals stop u from doing things u like .i also have bifocals ,the no line bifocals  r the best. i still go enjoy prospecting and the outdoors. i especialy like being at a stream looking for yeller gold ,plus taking a break from prospecting to have a smoke and watch the animals come for a cool drink of water.
