  • I like what you did.  I have made one too, my own feat of engineering to say the least.  I have a custom made sluice sluice from a man in Ohio.  I used an old metal pan sifter from my trapline as a grizzly, added a slick plate, and bolted it to the head of the sluicebox.  Spray bar is 3/4" pvc.  I have to go upto a 1250 gph pump to get the right water volume.  I have a short film on a disc I will upload at a later date.  Everything breaks down and fits in a plastic bin similar to yours.  I use a 30 mesh Jobe classifier in a small bucket (with holes) to catch tailings as they exit the sluice and that keeps the sludge out of my pump.  I pan out the materials in the classifier to catch what the sluice did'nt.  The addage should read " Prospectors are the mothers of all inventions"..

    • Yes!!! Great Job!! I will watch for your film!

  • I too use my stream sluice as a recirculator heres my set up the blue barrells are FREE my favorite word next to GOLD !!!2960224304?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

    • Howard: are you using your 800gph recurculating pump on this set up?  You sure use a lot of ingenuity in your projects.  Ted

      • No I've got a 1200 gph bilge pump I run this one with 800 wsn't quite enough , 1200 just about right if you classifie at 1/4 inch.

  • I am sorry to ask such a dumb question. But hay I am a newbie. How long will that battery last? I know it depends on the pump but you must not have to large of a pump. This has inspired me to maybe make something of my own. Lots to learn and not long before summer.  Thank you for your time.

    • Hi, Maurice, I am going to use an automotive battery in the field. I used that one because I had it!
