Hello everyone! I am a newbie to gold prospecting and was hoping you could answer a couple of questions!
I live in Statesville NC, located about 50 miles North of Charlotte. I know NC is home to the first gold rush and I have seen where gold has been found in most of the counties (Mecklenburg, Rowan, Davie, Catawba, etc.) surrounding mine (Iredell County). Has anyone ever found gold in Iredell County?
Also, I am looking to buy some equipment to do a little prospecting in the many creeks and streams surrounding me. I have heard a lit about the Gold Cube and was wondering if any of you had an opinion about it? Would it be a good choice for prospecting in my are?

Thanks Bill! I have access to some streams in North Iredell that I will be checking out this weekend (off Tabor / Tomlin Rds). We will also be doing some prospecting in Barium Springs. My sister in law has property on a nice stream in Stoney Point. Hope to check that area out soon! I live out near Cleveland in Cool Springs. I have a little creek on my property, I will have to check it out as well!
I just joined the GPAA last night. Do you know if they have any claims in NC? I get my membership packet in a few days so I guess I will find out then :-)
You have Vein Mountain up towards Marion NC. GPAA isn't very active in NC. The Local Clubs are the ones that make things happen around here. The Club in Kannapolis is the closet to us. They meet tonight and every 2nd Wednesday of each month. They plan a number of outings for the Membership every month.
We are finding small in the county. I was in the area of Harmony 2 weeks ago and found some. Got to get back and check out a better place that might be a catch basin. Also towards Hiddenite I have found some nice pickers on one of the streams outside there. Third Creek I hear was said to be panned for many years and found gold I haven't found any there yet but that doesn't mean anything. I may not have found the right spot. Towards Cleveland some gold is being found.
Yes James there is Gold in Iredell County, people took their gold to Charlotte mint to sell and did little talking about it! If you want go get out let me know, the club in Kannapolis is a great club to join as well !

I find gold in greensboro, asheboro, and keep on moving south, there is even more gold.

I know Bill! I went ahead and bought a Gold Cube from him this past weekend! Going to try it out this Saturday!
