Good day fellow prospectors. I am in need of some help and thought maybe you all would give me some advice. My buddies and  I are wanting to plan a trip to either Arizona or Nevada prospecting/metal detecting December 26-31 2012. We are not sure what would work better for us. We are all GPAA members so thought maybe a GPAA claim in either state. What we are thinking is, Load up our goodies in a truck and head south and just carry what we will need for food and water with us. Camp right at the site if we can or close by. The way I am thinking we should be able to do this trip for maybe $200 to $300 each. Nice cheap trip and maybe even find some gold.

So what are your thoughts or suggestions. can anyone suggest a good claim? Has someone on here already done this type of a trip and have some hints for us? Is there places that we can camp at that is not GPAA and do some prospecting? If so what might the fees be? or a website addy so I can look it up?

What ya think? equipment suggestions? camping gear suggestions?

Thank you for your time and help

  • GPAA has a couple claims in the Gold Basin area in Northwest Arizona.  Right elevation for nugget shooting. I've been in the area prospecting probably before the GPAA was even started!
