Chris:
I live in the Skagit Valley area about 35 miles up the river from Burlington. Within less than an hours drive from here is the old historical mining areas of Monte Cristo on the upper headwaters of the Sauk River. Also the Cascade River headwaters was another area that was mined in the yesteryear and I have talked to some that still find color there. There was silver and gold in that area. Monte Cristo had gold lode mines, gold ore, and silver, even some platinum in the area. There are areas that you can camp as most of these areas are located on BLM lands. On the Cascade River there is a nice small campground called marble creek campground with about mabey 8 to 10 units that would put you very close to the old mining locations. I deliver bait for a local bait company, Morgan Enterprises and also work Sundays and Mondays at Holiday Sports which is located the I-5 / hwy 20 overpass next to the Mcdonalds. Wanted to throw that in just to let you know that ocassionally I have to travel the sewer pipe ( I-5 ) down past the septic tank ( Seattle ) and into the drainfield ( Tacoma ) to get to your area. Sorry, don't care for cities, having no trees has impacted their thinking process do to lack of oxygen, Ha! I have always been a fisherman and outdoorsman and enjoy it so thats why I live here.
That's a very nice offer and I'm gonna recommend Chris goes. He is a great guy and a pleasure to spend time with as well as has some skills for the task. A little time up on the liberty and cougar claims or even the open ground now that the main creek is public and he will have the fever forever lol. Thanks for offering for him. Its a well placed choice. He is always welcome around here as well. If hes headed your way he can swing by here and borrow whatever he needs and drop it on the way back.
Thank you for the kind words Mike. I have been definitely been wanting to get out more lately. Things get so busy so quickly lately. I still have some raw material to pan through from our last outing Mike, that i'm going to tinker on this week.
Thank you for the offers about gear as well. I am not one for asking nor borrowing thing,s but its good to know its available if in a dire crunch.
I think you better head east and take the offer when the snow is gone. The sunny side is like a different world from here. I'm pretty sure you will have your own box soon. You saw those 4 buckets go through the TII in about 20 min with no effort and a lot of shovel leaning lol. I think im going to have him make one with a longer bed. Two panels for fine, two panels for 1/4" and a single 3/8" at the end. Anything larger than 3/8" wont even move off the slick plate. The front end works just fine. Might have him double the size of the stainless plate, cause mine has all those dents lol. But you also saw the modified A52 and the little drop riffle between the V mat and Ken's vortex is exactly what i need when I go chase wire gold when we get the melt here. Every tool has a different job. TII wont catch wire at all. Wrong shape for the device, and it will skip on through. The drop riffle sluice might. But the modded A52 will, because the pieces are too heavy to hop the first riffle and will lodge in the drop riffle mod. But yeah, get up with Bob. Northwest gold field from Wenatchee and the Blewitt/Liberty district are always worth the drive once the pass doesn't need chains. Different world, and more open ground even though its claimed up. I'm sure Bob knows the public spots or has a claim membership. Remember, they threw out all claims along the Blewitt pass road. Anything within 200 yards of the pass road is open to the public. A few traditional campgrounds and lots of remote camping spots, good for a family getaway. Spring or summer I might even bring a tent and tag along if you don't mind my paris hilton lap dog lol
that is a very nice offer bob
