I am moving to billings mt and was wondering what the laws and regulations were for panning and using a hand sluice on national forest land and blm land? any info would help

hi Charles, I am in Missoula which is in the mid western part of Montana. I have talked to BLM and hand sluice and panning are ok. Here is a link to what I had found prior to just calling BLM http://www.blm.gov/mt/st/en/info/browse/gold_panning.html

From what I hear, there is flower gold in the Yellowstone River. Might be worth looking into. Ted
