I live in the Province of New Brunswick, Canada and as a licenced prospector up here we can prospect with the idea of selling our prospects to a major or minor mining company. Now these guys are looking for huge deposits of the commodity to mine, but smaller economical deposits are left to sit because all the fees that are charged are outside the scale of what a small time miner can afford so everything is based on large scale mining. I have been in conference with my local government official and he is open to the idea of small scale mining as an industry here in the province. The benefits to the province and the individual are almost endless as it would open a whole new industry here. Now they allow some panning to be done in the season (1 June until 30 September) for those that go as hobby, but what I'm looking at is setting up small scale mining for those people that are interested as a business. Now I've done some research on some of the provinces up here in Canada that have such programs, but not sure on what you folks down south have done. Now I understand that with government it is a constant battle with environment and everything else. Right now we have nothing so I'm trying to get some sort of template that I can propose to government that everyone can be happy with (LOL), no easy task but doable. OK so what I'm asking is for some input links comments that are helpful in my cause. You folks have some organized groups that deal with small scale mining and the rules and regs you have to deal with, I'de like to hear from you. Anyone with a useful link or comment would be appreciated.
