  • The main thing you have to do when working with cyanide solution, is to make sure you keep the ph neutral. You do not, under any circumstance, want the solution to get acidetic. It can create hydrogen cyanide gas which is deadly. Be careful. You can lower the ph by using lime. Spur is right, you can use zinc filtration, or you can use activated carbin to pull the gold and silver out of solution.

    • Thanks to you too mtau. I'know to be extremely careful with the cyanide.

  • Hey Daniel, Electrowining is one of meny was to go about it, There is also Impragnating Zinc Dust  the differance betwen the two are one use's a dust and the other use's Zinc plates and Eletrolysis. You can get zinc sheets from the case of a battery, The plates becomes plated with the gold, Here is a nice setup, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsSK_xTlag0 , with impranated Zinc dust You will have to filter the slury and smelt it. And then there is "Metabisulfite" witch is used as a Precipitant, to drop the gold from solution, A&B has Zinc Dust but will not ship, you can get Zinc rods from  http://www.rotometals.com/zinc-rods-s/45.htm they also have clean sheets, this site is thanks to a friend on this site. Which ever way you chose to do you will have to make buttons. once you have removed the Gold from the solution you will have to process the Cyanide this Can be done using Sodium Bicarbonate, (baking soda), Cyanide is on the EPA and UN watch list.

    • Thanks Spur,  I enjoyed the youtube videos and your info.  Dan
