Gold N Sand Hand dredge

I just used my gold n sand hand dredge with the boomer box attachment tha goes on to the new 50" folding sluice box w/ adjustable legs. It worked great. Busted some bedrock and got nearly a pennyweight of color. I did'nt get any nuggies , but it did pick up some big chunks of lead, so I know it will work on nuggies! My new faorite way to prospect until we get dredging back here in Ca!

  • I love my gold n sand, but was getting a little frustrated with it being so hard to prime and get going, this past outing we had over 70 people, and as I was processing my bucket in my gold miner people would stop and ask about both the gold miner and the gold n sand. During one of the discussions on the gold n sand, I started taking it apart to show the different bits and I found that in both of the areas with the flaps the pipe where the thumb screws are had split a little and it was just enough to block the flaps from closing all the way.  I cut those fragments off, put it back together and it worked better than the first time I got it.  As I said, I use mine with the bucket, yes the lid is a pain to get on and off, but I'd rather it be a pain than have it go shooting off down stream.  I've also found that if I fill the bucket with water I can dive down to the bottom of nice bowl type catches and suck up whats inside them, the sand and heavy stuff go to the bottom of the bucket helping to keep it on the bottom. I've thought about investing in a scuba outfit but I don't get to go often enough to justify the expense. My buddy went with me on the outing and one of the raffle prizes was a used gold n sand someone donated, he won it, looks to be an older model than what I've got, but we took his apart and his too had the fragments split enough to stop the flaps from working correctly, so if you might want to take it apart and see if yours need to be trimmed, it's also easier to clean out the rocks and such when you have it apart.

  • I think you can get those openers at home depot or sherwin williams paint stores
  • scott,

what size dc water pump have you found best to provide a proper water flow through the sluice? what size battery works best and lasts the longest before a recharge is needed? i'm getting ready to buy both and need advice as to what to get.

    thanks,
