  • Looking for a prospecting friend to go prove some theories I have researched on the south fork of the nooksack river... the wife is giving me a hard time about going alone... (ok what ever.. females can be hard...) I been researching this for a year... Anyone interested? ED MOVE BACK TO WA... LOL
    • working on it my friend, working on it lol
    • I would be interested in exploring the area. I was just looking at the map to see what I'd be in for. Would you approach from the north through Acme or up from hwy 20?

I haven't been in that area to explore yet. Always looking for new corners to check out.

      Al

      • You have to access S.F. Nooksack from the gate at the fish hatchery in Saxon...

You can no longer access that area from the old scott paper off of HWY 20 in Hamilton and by way of Lyman Pass.

Only way you can is if you own property back there, know someone that does and have permission.

Or enter by horse, Bike or foot. No motorized vehicles... You can always try to ask at the new owners of  Crown Pacific. I believe it is a ready mix company now. It is for sure not like it was a decade ago when Crown Pacific would let you back there... Damn Vandels :o/

      • The only access I know of is Saxon bridge around Acme... I really want to  go down south by Hamilton but from what I understand there is no access... the logging roads are all gated and the hike in would be around 10 miles by foot...  At saxon bridge there is a trail that goes all the way to Cavanaugh Creek it's about a five mile hike in... send me an e-mail and I'll tell you what I'm thinking...

mzuercher_7@msn.com that is an underscore before the _7...

  • I get lots of shot out of it also, but it is near home and an easy drive for a day trip.
  • Olney creek has claim markers on it now from the bridge to about a mile up stream I believe is said to be claimed by Prospectors Plus Club" in Gold Bar they were in Sultan...

I know when I was there two years ago, there were no such claim markers, Now I hear it does.

It is DNR land though and not Federal. Check with LR2000 reports...

    • Yes the claims are owned by Chris Brawn, of Prospectors Plus in Sultan it was in gold bar but moved to Sultan. it runs from the bridge up to the end of the pavement.
    • I hadn't seen any claim markers before. I heard a rumor that it wasn't able to be claimed... that's what I get for listening to rumors.

I got too much lead out of that creek to keep me coming back. Most of the gold I got was very fine/scarce.

      • State land is withdrawn from mineral entry, but some how from what I hear their getting around that.

Check with the local ranger station, they should know..

I just heard it was from someone posting on one of my youtube videos, when I was camped on Olney creek and prospecting a couple years back... He was kind of giving me a hard time because he thought I was there claim jumping or something... It was way before they posted it...

But I also heard something about it from a friend of mine who is a member of Prospectors Plus Club..

        So go from there lol
