  • I live 45 miles from Llano Tx. and have found gold in the river near Long's camp, thier are also lots of garnets and other stones in the river also. I have a pic on my page of Texas gold.
  • Hi Debra,

There is some gold here in Texas! but not much :( The Llano River in central Texas and surrounding creeks are supposed to show color. I have found a few specks there at a place called Longs Fish and Digs at the Long ranch. its a pay to play place (kinda steep $$ IMO) on the Llano river with a small creeks as well that is nice. If you want to learn a little more check out the Round Rock GPAA website or the Wichita Falls GPAA website. They will point you in the right direction. I have also heard that the Brazos river around Mineral Wells has a bit of the yellow stuff.
  • Deb after a little on line research Llano Texas shows to have some gold panning activity as well as fossicking for gem stones. the annual Texas Gold Panning Championship is held there. the geological attraction seems to be the enchanted rock thought to be a healing vortex "well ok" think I'll stick with Vitamin C easier to swallow than a vortex rock. Good Gold To You Debra !
