Gold Cube

WOW!

I have seen equipment come and go, heck I bought most of them.

When I saw the video of the Gold Cube back in November, I put my name on the list.

There were some delays in them getting the feet, so I got mine in December. I didn't order the feet, I figured I'd fabricate them. Moving had taken up more of mine time, so I broke down and ordered them.

I had almost 2 full 5 gallon buckets of -10 to 20 cons to run through it. The cons were from everyone. Randy, Gold fever Prospecting, bought off of ebay, you name it, they were in there. Even some came from a scammer in South Carolina, that I fortunately got my money back, but still kept the dirt.

Here are my observations:

Gold Cube says you can run 1100 pounds of cons through their device before clean up. I had to do a clean up after a bucket and a half. Here where the problem was. I was a 1000 GPH bildge pump. AND I was recirculating the water. I didn't do the 2 bucket of method of cons running, the water runing out and recirculate that. So my pump would get clogged with dirt. I would lose flow then I'd have to move it around. I think that the 2 tier method would have solved the clogging problem, with even flow. (Or just a bracket to keep the pump high in the water.) Better yet, putting the pump in a stream would be best.

After a bucket and a 1/3rd, I stopped feeding for a clean out.  Also, there was a certain amount of anxiety at running so many cons and not doing a clean out.  Once the separations plates were cleaned, I reassembled and finished running the last 2/3rds of a bucket.

I ended up with a 14" pan of dirt to go through. I put a cup in at a time and in no time I looked down to see I bet, 25+ flakes! I panned the 8-10 cups down to one and brought that home. I also have to add, that I have never had a crowd watch me as I panned.  this wsa dirt that I had already classified between -10 to 20, and yet some of the gold was so fine, that my tweezers wouldn't pick them up!

After I panned down to a cup, I went back to my dump tub and panned some cons that had been through the Gold Cube.  There was nothing! No trace of any gold!

Still wet.

Very impressive piece of equipment.  (so much so, that I put my Spiral Wheel and all my sluices up for sale on eBay!)  Very easy to set up and to run.  No run some dirt, adjust, run some more, adjust, etc like there is in a sluice. Clt 49er

This is everything my Gold Cube recovered for me in 2011.  64.9 Grams.  Ranging from -10/12 Mesh to under 100 mesh.  (The finest mesh screen I have.)  Photo of a 10" DIA finish pan.

  • Just seen the infomercial for the Pomona Gold show and Mikes Gold Cube boy that beard has got long lol
    • Yup it's about 11" long right now, I need a trim.  It's the most I have ever accomplished by doing nothing.  LOL

      • I have strictly panned for gold here in Indiana for about 7 years going out at least once per week except when too cold. I have very carefully removed  every speck I found in the black sand  and then saved the black sand. I purchased a Black Magic in Indy two years ago and ran all of my black sand through it. I was surprised at the small specks I found but still saved the black sand. I recently purchased a Gold Cube, set it up and ran  my black sand through it expecting to find little to nothing. Man was I in for a surprise. When I flushed the Cube into a pan and worked it down, I could not believe the large amount of extremely small specks I found!! It is a 3 tray unit and only found two small specks in the bottom tray. I am sold. Sorry, I didn't take pictures.

I know, some smarty will say I need to improve my panning skills. I have a friend I work with who has a spiral wheel and a slate miller table and he is running all of his black sand through the table and then we are going to run it through the Cube. He is convinced we will find nothing. We shall see.

  • Yes it was Pam. Thanks Brian. I could not believe I forgot her name. She was very nice. I agree with you seeing it yourself is worth more then all the pictures. I am sold on the gold cube. It is the best tool I have

    • I will pass along all the kind words to her.  Sure does warm the heart!

      Mike  AKA Mr Pam

  • The young lady most likely was Pam.  Mike's Wife, or Mike is Pam's Husband.  LOL

The folks at Gold Cube & Gold-N-Sand are top notch.

Pam was doing the Gold Cube demonstration and Mike was giving a lecture during the 2011 GPAA Gold & Treasure Expo.  I was sitting out in the crowd while Pam went through her demo of the Gold Cube.  As she finished up, the guy standing next to me asked, "Will the Gold Cube REALLY get fine gold?"

I reached into my pocket and handed him the jar that contained the gold from my black clean-up pan.  I told him to shake it up and look at the bottom of the jar.  He shook it up, looked at the bottom.  He handed me back the jar of gold and bought one!  Pam told me afterwards, that he had been to 2 previous demos with Mike.  She said, she figured he would never buy one.  I told her, it's one of those, "A picture is worth a 1000 words."  Unless you see the fine gold for yourself, you can look at all the pictures you care to.

  • yes that is great customer service and we like that from a company

  • Just a note of some GREAT customer service. As most of you know I am a prospecting supplies dealer. I sell the gold Cube as one of my items. This morning I had a customer call that bought a Gold Cube less than 2 months ago. He said the pump started making a weird noise and just quit working. He asked if there was a warranty on the pump. I told him I was not sure and would call Gold Cube. So I called the office and was greeted by a very friendly lady (embarrassed because I don’t remember her name) and she informed me that the pumps DO have a warranty. She asked me to have my customer package the pump up and send it to them with a little letter explaining what happen and his address. When they receive it they will put a new pump return mail. She was very kind and assuring. Folks this is what I call customer service. With someone standing behind a product with good service it makes selling their product that much easier. Thank you Gold Cube for some top notch customer service.

  • Charlotte;  Wow. that is a great indorcement for the Gold Cube. I saw one on a table at "Dakota Freds" camp on gold rush alaska last week. I did not know if it was a commercial or if he really uses it? But you seem convinced. Did you sell your "blue bowls" too?

    • Well  Guys and Gals, the results for naming the topper unit on the Gold Cube is down to 5 choices.  We are inviting everyone to come and cast a vote for what you think is the best name.  You have until Jan 8. Click here to cast your vote.  Thanks   Mike
