There was an elderly woman that had recently lost her husband. Because she had solely depended on her husbands finances during the marriage, she now had no means of support. So Gerty decided to get a job. The next day, she went down to the employment agency and applied for a job in a big name toy factory that made Seaseme Street charactor dolls.
Being that she has been out of the work force for so long and the fact that her vision and hearing were failing, the supervisor wanted to test her out on a slow running assembly line making stuffed Elmo dolls.
After a short bit of instruction, he left her to get to it. Gerty grabbed a couple of marbles wrapped them in fake fur and sewed them on the doll. After a while the supervisor came down to see how she was getting along. Seeing that she had worked on a few hundred dolls,
