DRYWASHER PLANS

I'm very interested in building a hand operated "Puffer" type drywasher.  I would like to make it on a smaller scale just for portability reasons.  I've seen many plans available, but I would appreciate any input that any of you might have.  I've looked at the EB mini drywasher on billandlindasprospecting.com.  I like it but would like to take those plans and increase it in size a bit.  I look forward to your ideas and any other links you might be able to provide.

  • i would like to make a drywasher to,,,,cant figure out how the sluice part works,,does the sand fall through the cloth into the bellows?

    • Glenn, the sand falls on the cloth and is moved by air, going thru the cloth, blowing the lighter dirt over the riffles leaving the heavy behind the riffles . hope this answers the question. Feel free to pick my brain again. Jimbo

    • Not very much. Regular T shirt material (1/2 cotton 1/2 nylon) works well or harbor freight sells canvas drop cloths that is working well on my homebuild. Riffles made of 3/4"   1/4 round molding.    Hope that helps a little. Check the keene youtube videos. The connection between the motor shaft and the bellows is critical, you are going to need alot of jarring/shaking to make the gold settle to the bottom also. Another thing to consider is the amount of weight the motor is pushing up and down Mine is drawing alot of power and running the batery down in a few hours. I like to stay out in the desert all day

  • I built a fairly nice one measuring off the pictures on the internet. Used a cut up harbor freight tarp for bellows and 1x3 popler from home depot for the rest of the body        Ted

  • Hey I have the large version of bills' drywasher, I have many problems with it I will have to rework the board, I know the feed hopper is a problem too( have to keep banging on it to get the dirt to fall) I too want a small drywasher to do sample with and have it back-packable I can be reached at  : au_prospector_2000@yahoo.com
