Do we really have a voice

It seems to me every time I turn around that there is a new regulation on some kind of small scale mining or prospecting piece of equipment in the USA or Canada. The laws very from state to state and province to province but do we have any kind of voice in the process? I know here the Department of Environment makes a lot of the decisions but is there anyone in there that has any idea what the small scale hobby prospector/miner does or uses, or how they use there small scale equipment, I don't think so. Last year I offered the department to come out on my claims and see what I do with my high banker, dredge and sluice and see for real what is going on. Never got an answer. I'm going to send them another invite this year and see what happens. It makes me wounder where they get their information, I hope not from the gold rush series of shows. Now I also know that there has been laws that have not passed WHY I ask. Did a group band together to stop it and if so how. Do the States and Provinces try to sneak these new laws in without consulting anyone. How do you or did you find out about some of these things, did you only find out after they where in place. Now I know there are a few bad apples in every crate, cutting trees, leaving garbage and using illegal equipment where it shouldn't be. I think we had better start policing our selves and informing the powers to be on this  type of activity. IMHO if it keeps going the way it is our style of life as we know it will be gone in 20 years. What are your thoughts.

  • Unless you have a lot of money that you can donate to these politicians it is the only way they will listen to you. I truly believe there is not a law out there that a politician cares about only how much money he can make by passing a law. They could care less about going out and seeing your operation reason one they might get their feet dirty or a bug might land on them, and it is not politically correct. You have to remember that our politicians today were all raised on Greenpeace and the environmental wackos, I can remember when the majority of the vote won that's why a lot of these groups don't what any of this to go to vote because they know they won't win its a lot easier to just pay the politician to get the vote you want it's sad but true.
