DIY Trommel on a Shoestring Budget!

Mike's Trommel

I wrote directions to build an inexpensive, compact, and light weight hand trommel. It is designed to classify quantity material for your dry-washer, high-banker, sluice, pan, and can also be used in garden composting and worm harvesting. The cost of construction is around $50 using new parts from your local hardware.

Cheers,

Mike

  • I just built the trommel yesterday. Finishing it today. This is the second one I built. This one turned out better than the first one I built a couple of years ago. Can't wait to get out in to the field. Thank you Mike.

    • Let me know how it works out for you.  I still use my original trommel and design.  I use it dry and in the river.  Great fun and makes recreational prospecting a blast.  Good gold on you!

  • Nothing we can do if the link is down sorry gerald.  Mike probably took it down, you might friend him and then message him.

    • I have had to change the server.  The trommel build is now found at :

  • Looking for the plans for this trommel. Link appears to be down.

    • Sorry the link is down.  I usually serve it from my home but had a water leak catastrophe and had to gut the house.  A friend is serving it.  I'll see what's up with the down site and try to get it back on line for you.

      • Thank you!

  • I saw this in the GPPA mag and built one.. Works better than expected! We have had it out 3 times running approx 40-50 classified buckets each time and no issues yet.. The slip in legs are great for transportation and the flume is awesome for filling straight into the 5 gallon buckets.. Thanks for the plans!
    • Awesome review Brandon, thanks.
