Still working on the drawings, based on bills folding drywasher from billandlindaprospecting.com. going to be building a prototype in the next week or two, do some testing. Then I will post up the drawings. Should cost less then 200$, fold up to a small suit case size, and only require a drill and a hacksaw to build if thats all u got.

  • Sounds Great I built a hand crank Canvas Bellows awile back out of reclaimed Oak. :) I think I posted pics the Dead Air stops are what is importat with Muslin Cloth and fiberglass screen for static cling
  • Russ, I sent you a friend request , did you get it?

  • Russ, building a drywasher is on my list of building projects, but being busy with other projects (re-modding the small trommel, modding my sluices...etc) made me shelve the build for a later !

Yours looks good on the 3D model drawing. You use wood, but I prefer metal (Galvanized steel) the lightest gauge possible. But that's just a personal preference !

What drive motor you intend to use with it? a 12v windshield wiper motor ? or is it hand cranked for portability (less weight of battery to lug around)?

I am waiting on your finished drawings, so I can (glean) from your design :)

This is a Cool project and a suitable piece of gear for those who prospect in the desert (like me) !

    • Winshield washer motor, probably geared up 1-1.8. Should give 90 rpm on high 60 rpm on low. I'll see about drawing up a hand crank version. Woods cheap, fairly light, and easy to work with. Figure my riffle tray should take about 45min to an hour to build and cost around 10$. Makes modding easy.
      • I was just wondering what you intend to use for the drive mechanism ! Very good info ! the Windshield motor RPM speed should be enough for this size.   Here unfortunately wood ain't cheap  !

Agree that it is easy to work with wood and it is light weight. Also in the desert (my place) very low moisture (dry bone desert !) and of course this never gonna touch water so it should remain light to haul around easily !

Still prefer metal over wood, for those times when you let your pal use the drywasher ! when they treat it hard and it breaks ! metal is going to handle those rough hands ! lol
