Crap in our food!

Recently my wife was told she's allergic to wheat, yeast, beef, soy, tuna and eggs. I know what the hell does she eat, but she's a very resourceful woman and still turns out amazing meals. After she was told of her allergies she started researching food and soon discovered that here in America the government allows all sorts of crap in our food.  Like what you ask?  Well, did you know that margarine was invented to feed to turkeys and chickens to fatten them up quick to produce more meat? Except that when they fed it to the birds it killed them. Failed poultry food, but hey it tastes like butter, let's sell it to our people, yes even though they knew it killed turkeys and chickens they still sell it to us. Recently Starbucks has been in the news about using the red coloring that comes from a bug, now this has been used for coloring for hundreds of years, it doesn't cause cancer, ADHD or hyperactivity, the red food coloring that we normally use in our food has been banned for human consumption in the UK and Europe for over 20 years now. Wonder what those people raising hell over the bug color would say if they knew that the coloring for some caramels comes from burnt human hair or burnt feathers? Yes the list goes on, what have you found nasty in your food and what are you doing about it? We're planning on moving to the country and raising our own food and meat, right now when we buy things at the store we try and follow the 5 ingredients rule. The food can only contain up to 5 ingredients and they have to be recognizable.

    • Yes Howard, we have that rule as well, however, it's when it tastes good and it's bad for you that's scary.
