Bazooka Modification

So I just got my new Bazooka Gold Trap (48") in yesterday. I have used one a time or 2, which sold me on them. Anyway, was checking out a few Youtube vids and saw where a guy has placed V matting of the first 24" of his 48" Bazooka. It was showing instant color as he dumped bucket after bucket. This is something that I'm strongly considering as well as another club also. Has anyone on here done this? Good or Bad results? Does it cause problems during clean up? Lets see what ya'll have to say.

  • I hear ya. but the video was interesting as he instantly could see gold in the mat. Could be a good indication of if your in the gold, or getting out of it. Not to mention if it didn't get caught on the mat you know its in the trap.

  • Don't reinvent the wheel !!

  • The Bazooka GOLD TRAP [key words] is not intended to be a sluice but rather a boil-box. This allows it to be used where a "sluice" needs a permit or is not legal to use.

If you install a riffle or [riffle] mat, you now have a sluice under the definition of the law.

Why not buy a cheap, used sluice if you want to change/rearrange something designed by an engineer?

    • The Bazooka actually acts more like a gravity powered highbanker. The bazooka is still considered a sluice. We have no laws against sluices here in NC.

  • I would see no point in this as you are catching most all of the gold in the trap i mean it would help if your water flow was to fast to slow the water down a little but as anything else i see no point
