hi what's the cost of a Co. non resident dredge permit,Thanks
HI Charles, as well as I can Remb it was $25 for up to 3 diff claims which is good for 1 year you can also Pay for your claim over the Phone if they havn't changed it Hope this Helps. Jim
I have Dredged the GPAA Claims on the ARK River they have a Camp ground there (Priv} But there is another Camp ground with Showers and Toliets Owned by the State about 2 Miles down River But it Cost $6 per Day to Use the Bath Room I Took My Own Disable Port a potty with Bags. There is Some Real Good Gold to be had There But April is A Little Cold since the River is up around 9-10000' there I was there in AUG and we Had Snow Cover on the 14000 Footers about 7 out of 14 days That I was there But Day Time Temps got in the 60-70s which is Really Warm at that Alt But with the Mild Temps we have had this year its tough to Tell. If you get the Right Place to Dred you can get 1/4 to 1/2 OZ per day with a Good 4" Dredge But its tough to get your Equp down at the Camp Grounds, I say stay at the GPAA Camp FREE and do your Dredging down River at the Rail Road Bridge Claims or Elep Rock Claim which is Still GPAA Claims You Have to Buy your Dredging Permints Before you start Follow the GPAA Guide and should have no Problems. Oh I Say Call one of the CO Dir To check on the Weather and Water Before Going. Hope this Helps. Jim or Gold Hoarder Jim.
Hey thanks Jim for the great info ... we are going to wait tell the weather gets a little warmer just so it is easier on us old guys.........seems most of the gpaa claims on the ark have been closed to dredging as the gpaa didnt file a notice of intent ..... so were heading for point bar have had some good and bad reports from that area do you know anything about that area jim ? we are experienced dredgers and we can read a river and we love it underwater it seems to really get me in great shape thanks again for the info ... will from iowa
Larry,
There is a movement by the dipstick Dem senators in Colorado to under take a "preservation" move
on much Colorado lands. It could affect your future trips to the Arkansas River.
http://www.markudall.senate.gov/
Part of his plan is to take Arkansas River from Salida to Buena Vista into "national monument" status.
He has no regard for prospecting and the fear is that he'll close the river to rafting with claims on the
river closed.
If you go to his website and read what he proposes. If you can respond with an opinion, he usually responds
with propaganda. To him it is practically a done deal. At present this won't affect above Buena Vista to
Leadville. At least so far.
He should be getting to know me by name as I send a new response every morning and if I have a bad day on
the river, he gets another. lol
He wants the many dollars that rafting and fishing (thanks Trout Unlimited) brings to CO but doesn't care a
bean about the need of others.

George,
Thanks. I was not asking question, was trying to respond to Richard about the possible problem
on the Ark
I am still trying to gather all the facts. The best I see it now is that Udall wants that area of the
Ark to close. There is a canyon called Brown Canyon that has old stone/indian remains.
I am member of GPOC, whoops, think membership lapsed but will still try to contact them to
see if they know.
Still, Udall has propaganda on his web site and has already had meetings I think in Avon and
somewhere else to raise support.
I sure hope this is wrong. I was at pt Barr last summer when GPOC had outing. Met Big Ben and
many other great prospectors.
I have emails from Udall outlining his plan and it doesn't look good. Hope I'm wrong. I asked
questions but got no answer back.
If you are member of GPOC check to see what is going on. If its true, must get the word out to
send Udall opposition.
Would appreciate it. Thanks

In April the water will still be 34 deg. Be prepared. Better in summer... Superfine flour gold, but plentiful. The black sands are super challenging to separate. Most collect enough to send off to a smelter. Last year a friend's claim was under 4 feet of water 3 times from flooding. Anticipate the same this season with the snowfall.
Richard,
I take it you are from CO or know enough about the Ark River.
Senator dipsticks Udall and and Bennet are propose make Ark River from Salida to Buena Vista
national monument status to "protect" the river, for rafters and fishermen that is, to increase the
"income" for Co
http://www.markudall.senate.gov/
They want to "protect" the river. From whom?? For what??
Up river from Buena Vista to Leadville not affected yet. But I have heard that owners of that
stretch of river want to do something similiar to stop propecting. (can't confirm that)
Anyway, the move is on against prospecting.. Drop a comment to Udall questioning the wisdom.
