There is an article in the latest issue titled Mining Claims - What to Know Before You File by Chris Ralph that you might find of interest. I have only scanned the article but just the first few paragraphs and their references to new taxes Barack Hussein Obama wants to include in his FY2012 budget could be cause for concern such as proposing that the Department of the Interior charge a royalty percentage, of tax, for anything recovered on select hardrock minerals such as gold, silver and copper. I don't know how this will effect the recreational prospector but anytime the government decides it wants to tax or regulate something it has a tendency to have an adverse effect on all of us.

I read the article also. I thought the same thing. All mining , newbies to the pro's and everyone in between are taking a big hit by the Gov't and special interest groups. We need to unite and fight them back.
