4" classifiers - anyone use them?

I ran across  4" classifiers for sale at Goldfeverprospting.com.  They offer 12 different sizes from 4 to 100 mesh @ $12 each.  Seems to me that they would be very handy classifying small amounts of cons... much less awkward than the full sized classifiers.  I'm wondering if anyone has exprience using these small classifiers?

  • I have these which are similar in all the sizes from 10 to 100 mwsh and they work just fine. They are 5.75 inches instead of 4 but much deeper then the ones you are looking at.

  • Bill, I have a couple of small 4" classifiers (#30 and #50 mesh) that I got from a company that blasts cast iron parts before they are powder coated.  The classifiers stack together and are used to calculate the breakdown of the blasting media.  They were moving and were throwing them out, so I couldn't resist the opportunity for a  freebie.   Being that small, they tend to clog up rather fast and I can only run about a couple of table spoons worth of material through them at a time.  If they weren't free, I wouldn't have paid them.  Too small in my opinion.  Some people may like them, but for me they seem to be a hassle having to stop to clean out the screen every few spoonfuls.

  • I bought the 10, 20, 40 and the 60 also and I have used them a lot. Good to get down to the finer stuff for the Blu Bowl or even the Desert Fox.

  • We have and use the 10, 20, 40 and 60 mesh.   Perfect for working in the house on these cold days.

  • Yes I have, we use them for the Gold Cube clean-up, they are perfect for that, in fact we will start to carry them after January 20th.  They will be in a clean-up kit we will be selling.  I would like to ask one thing of everybody though.  Would it be worth offering a 200 mesh 4" as well?  If so, with a big enough order I will be able to get them.

    • forget the 200 mesh screen.

      • That small is not profitable but it sure is fun

    • How much will they cost?  What will be in your clean up kit?  I'd be interested in a 200 mesh.

      • Great to know you would be interested in the 200 mesh.

Classifiers, snuffer, pan, vial, magnet, 4 sorting bins

Haven't settled on a price yet.  Not for sale yet.  Keep an eye on the Gold Cube site.  I am mostly interested in 200 mesh interest.  I even use 400 mesh screens but I think that may be too fine to be practical for most panners.

        • I wouldn't be interested in that full kit... have all the other stuff.  Might just get the classifiers from Gold Fever unless I find them elsewhere cheaper.
