Myself, Carlos (member on here), Dave, our wives, a couple kids and of course the pets are all heading out this memorial weekend for 4 days of fun. Wow after looking at this list of attendies maybe i will stay home and let them go. We are going to a little hidden lake to do some fishing in the mountains. Taking the atv's for some trail riding. The sluices to hit a little creek to see if we can find some gold(providing the creek is back to kind of normal flow). Then I am sure somewhere in there we will be swinging the metal detector around. Not sure when we will have time to sleep.

So what are all of you doing this memorial day weekend?

BE SAFE and most of all HAVE FUN!!!

  • We went camping last weekend too Maurice. Rained Fri. night, turned to snow Sat. Woke up to about a foot of snow Sun morning. Still snowing Mon morning when we left. Got home, and the sun came out- go figure. But all in all we still had a good time. It was fun pushing snow with the grill of the four-wheeler. lol   Ted

  • ok so again the best layed plans fall apart. My wife and I took the motorhome up thursday evening. It was nice and quiet at the lake. Woke up friday to some fairly nice weather and oh yea it was 10 am. I cant not remember the last time I had slept that late. I took my poontoon boat out and caught a couple of trout. We are not big fish eaters so I  just released them. Friday was just a kind of blow off day and not much happened. Saturday Carlos and his wife came up and we spent most of the day fishing and just kicking back relaxing. Woke up to snow on the ground sunday morning. Carlos and his wife left and some other friends showed up. I took their son out on 1 of our atv's and enjoyed the ride. Next thing we knew it was monday and it was time to head home. Never got any of the prospecting equipment out. Shame on me. Heck I can not remember the lst time I just sat back and really relaxed for more then 5 minutes. So the short of it was no prospecting, No Dave and his wife, enjoyed the time with my Bud Carlos, fishing and lots of relaxing. FUN WEEKEND!! How was all of yours?

    • well maurice I just stayed around the house and did my honey do list hope to head to the creek saturday ..we will see

    • Sometimes the gold isnt the metal. Sometimes its inside you.

  • sounds like fun maurice ....no plans for us the wife has to work all weekend

    • I'll be finallizing the packing for a three month or longer "weekend" of prospecting and meeting some GPS friends.  The journey will be exciting, it's been a long time since I have had the freedom to go where ever I felt and the time to do it.  I'll post pics of finds and friends.  Till then, let your road to happiness be paved in golden stone.

      • I'll be holding my breath for your first pic's of gold, will you be writing a book for us to read. Try to leave some gold for us part timers.
        • Tim, I would love to meet up with you sometime, but not on this go around.  I will be spending the time traveling and hitting many of the historic places within California's Motherlode area.  Maybe next time huh?

Dennis, funny you should mention that.  I have had a book in the works for some time.  I do have a few more items to add and will be working on completion sometime this next year.

Good luck to you all, I will miss reading the daily postings but I will stay in touch from time to time. Pics will be coming!

      • when are you leaveing  and will you be headed towards ohio ?
