10-12 finds with another first :)

Got out for some swinging yesterday. Started in a huge blueberry field with tons of rock walls and cellar holes. Then did a park hunt in the afternoon. Found some interesting things and scored yet another first for me. I'll start with the park hunt and the junk I found. Got the normal park goodies like clad coins, an earring, bracelet and a weird find....a bat! Here's the park find pics....

This is the bat. It was wrapped up in a ball and about 4" deep. Crazy!

I been researching an area which it's first inhabitants were 3 farming families around 1700. Those are what I want to find but not even sure their foundations are still there. So I headed up to this blueberry field where I know of about a dozen cellar holes. Here's a pic of the field. If you squint hard enough you can see some of the rock walls and at least 4 of the cellars. There is just as much field behind me as in front....this place is huge!

I know the cellars in the middle have been gone over many times so I walked the wood line along a rock wall and found a cellar in the woods. About 20 yards away was the well. Someone decided to use it cellar as a dump as there was an old TV, bed springs and some 8 tracks. Here's the emptied part of the cellar.

And here's the well.

I spent a little time between the foundation and well and pulled out some square nails and modern trash but managed to get a couple keepers. This is where I got a first find for me....a V nickel :) Here's the best finds from there....

I didnt keep the piece of spoon lol. I was surprised at the coins I found as I thought the site was older. But wont complain...got my first V nickel! The button caught my eye because equipment is spelled wrong. There's an extra e in there. Apon researching it i found out that's how the french spell it and it's a military button used on "bread bag' also known as a musette. Used mostly from late 1800's up to about WW1 but are still made today. So I'm guessing it's from the same era as the nickels so I kept it. Cant wait to get out there and check some different cellars and hopefully find a real old one. There's still some goodies left out there for me and I'm gonna find 'em!

Was another great day swinging!
